Let Paper take Flight
Paper Architectural sculptures absolute due date is Tues. April 12.
Include the inspirational quotation and mount on foam core. Post your best photographs in the facebook group.
Sequential Arrangement
Paper sculptures were to have been photographed from unusual angles and with strong lighting against a black ground. From these photos, you will find inspiration to create a 4 panel sequential arrangement that moves through the panel. This is a great design challenge and an opportunity to create a strong non-objective piece for your portfolio. Sequential movement is used all the time in narrative works and comic books- we, however, will make it from pure design.
Portrait Busts
It will soon be time to sculpt in real time a real person from your class. Partner up and plan your out of class time. Begin looking at busts for inspiration with necks, eyes, hair, patina etc.. Record in your sketchbook.
Future Planning & Finding
Please start looking for an old door, preferably found, peeling paint, character galore. It's better if it does not have glass. It can be half a door, broken, damaged-the more character the better. See the links below for places that we have found doors in the past. Ask for the most useless door and tell them that you are a student! Also, begin to find objects based on your juxtaposition theme. They must not be precious, as you must be willing to paint over, glue and distress them.
